SARTRIX
SARTRIX is a project by Ɔ. Martiana that has gone through several iterations, originally being planned as a book series, then begun as a blog, which is now (since 11 August 2022) being reconstituted in the form of this wiki.
The Name
SARTRIX is named after Thomas Taylor, a 19th-century pagan who published translations and original writings about ancient polytheistic philosophy and ritual in English, and contributed significantly to the popularization of Neoplatonism and the Orphic Hymns in particular.
The Latin for ‘tailor’ is sártor, the feminine form of which is sártrīx. The change of gender signals the trans-inclusive nature of the project.
Dedication
This project is dedicated not only to the Manes of Thomas Taylor, but also those of the grammarians Servius and Martianus Capella, to the gods Dionysus and Hermes, and above all to Philologia, or whatever the deity presiding over these matters is pleased to be called.
